State schools

• School №168 — Azerbaijani section, grades 1–11. Village centre, 10–15 min walk from most streets.
• School №215 — Russian and Azerbaijani sections, strong languages and mathematics. Eastern Mardakan.
• School №174 — Azerbaijani section, sports focus. South-west of the centre.
• School №190 — mixed sections, 2024 renovation.

Private schools

• MSM Educational Complex — premium, Cambridge programme, IB MYP. From 8,000 AZN per year. School bus route through Mardakan and Shuvalan.
• Landau School (Shuvalan branch) — strong STEM, English. 10 min from eastern Mardakan quarters.

Kindergartens

4 state pre-schools accepting from age 3. Private Kids Academy, Little Steps and Junior Village accept from age 2, including nursery groups. 8–12 min walk from residential quarters.

Before you fall for a «near a school» house, walk the morning route your child will take: pavements, crossings, lighting, loose dogs. Mardakan is safe overall — the specific street can still surprise.

Sweet-spot walking distance is 10–15 min for younger kids, 15–20 min for teenagers. If the school is private with a bus, distance matters less. Not only the kilometres — check the pavement quality and drainage; heavy rain can flood some streets.
